Seraphim Pueri Cantores

The Schola Pueri Cantores of Granada Cathedral was founded in November 2006 as a project with a threefold purpose: to enhance the dignity of the Cathedral’s liturgy, to promote sacred music and choral singing, and to train a group of young singers to a high artistic standard.

In 2010, Héctor Eliel Márquez took over as Musical Director of the Schola Pueri Cantores of Granada Cathedral, with Patricia Latorre assuming the role of Co-Director.

The Seraphim Choir, directed by Patricia Latorre since its foundation, is an ensemble made up of children and young singers aged between 10 and 16. It was established in 2012 to accommodate the growth of the choir and the different vocal characteristics of its members. Today, it is a well-established ensemble composed mainly of children and young people with musical training.

Among its projects, the Seraphim Choir has recorded a CD, “Rosa sine spina“; performed alongside soprano and composer Pilar Jurado at the Teatro de la Zarzuela; and taken part in the project Magallanes; “Requiem in memoriam.” In another production, Seraphim Pueri Cantores collaborated on “¿Dónde están los niños?“, by Jokin Oregi, performing music by Adrián García de los Ojos. The production was staged at the Teatro Alhambra in February 2026.

Its collaboration with the Granada City Orchestra includes the recording of Nana para dormir a un niño que no descansa by Pilar Jurado, its regular Christmas concerts, and a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 3, together with the OCG Choir and conducted by Lucas Macías, in October 2025.

The artistic quality of the Seraphim Choir of the Schola Pueri Cantores of Granada Cathedral was recognised with First Prize in the Choral Category at the 17th “Isaac Albéniz” Awards in 2022.
